Warranty and claims policy
Effective date: 6 September 2026
This policy applies to eligible lithium batteries, battery chargers and related products supplied by INVOLT. It explains the warranty coverage, claim requirements and support INVOLT provides if a product develops a problem.
1. Our warranty commitment
INVOLT supplies products that are intended to be reliable, fit for their stated application and free from defects in materials and workmanship under normal use.
If a product develops a problem, contact INVOLT first. We will review the information provided, perform remote checks where appropriate and arrange an inspection when required. Once the cause has been confirmed, INVOLT will explain whether the claim is approved and whether the product will be repaired, replaced or refunded under the applicable product terms.
2. Warranty periods
Unless a different period is stated on the product page, written quotation or invoice, eligible INVOLT LiFePO4 batteries carry a five-year limited warranty and eligible lithium battery chargers carry a three-year limited warranty. Other products carry the warranty period displayed for that specific product.
The warranty begins on the original customer invoice date and applies to the original purchaser. Proof of purchase and the product serial number may be required.
3. What the extended warranty covers
The extended warranty covers confirmed defects in materials or workmanship arising during normal use, provided that:
- The product was used for its intended application and with compatible equipment.
- Installation and electrical connections followed the supplied instructions.
- The battery was used with a compatible charger and charging profile.
- Specified voltage, current, temperature, discharge, storage and maintenance requirements were followed.
- The product, enclosure and battery management system were not opened, modified or tampered with.
Normal capacity reduction resulting from battery age and use is not automatically considered a manufacturing defect.
4. Repair or replacement
Approved warranty claims will ordinarily be resolved by repairing the product where a safe and reliable repair is possible. If the product cannot reasonably be repaired, INVOLT may replace it with the same model or a product of comparable specification and value.
Any assessment or repair-time estimate begins once the product has been received and is an estimate rather than a guarantee. Availability of parts and replacement products may affect completion time.
5. Installation requirements
Products advertised as installation kits may be installed by the customer or a competent installer, provided that all supplied instructions and safety requirements are followed. Where professional installation or certification is legally required, the work must be completed by an appropriately qualified person.
Damage resulting from incorrect installation is not covered by the extended product warranty. Where INVOLT performed the installation, a claim involving possible installation workmanship will be assessed separately and will not automatically be classified as customer misuse.
6. Extended warranty exclusions
The extended warranty does not cover damage caused by:
- Incorrect installation, wiring, polarity, configuration or loose connections.
- Short circuits, an unsuitable charger or an incorrect charging profile.
- Overcharging, excessive discharge, overloading or operation outside the product specifications.
- Continued use after a warning, fault or unsafe condition was detected.
- Improper storage, neglected maintenance or failure to follow the supplied instructions.
- Water, dust, corrosion, heat or environmental exposure beyond the product rating.
- Impact, crushing, enclosure deformation, excessive vibration or incorrect mounting.
- Opening, modifying, bypassing or tampering with the product or battery management system.
- Incompatible vehicles, equipment, controllers, chargers or accessories.
- Unauthorised repairs, altered identification labels or removed serial numbers.
- Normal wear, ageing or capacity reduction within the manufacturer’s specification.
An exclusion will only be applied when the excluded event is reasonably connected to the reported failure.
7. Making a claim
Please provide your name and contact details, proof of purchase, the product model and serial number, a description of the problem, relevant photographs or videos, charger specifications, installation information and available battery-management-system diagnostic information.
Stop using the product immediately if it appears swollen, unusually hot, physically damaged or unsafe. Contact INVOLT at info@involt.co.za or 082 975 1122 and do not send a battery until return instructions have been provided.
8. Inspection and transport
INVOLT may perform remote diagnostics or inspect the product to determine the cause of failure. No warranty decision will be made until enough information has been received to assess the claim.
The customer may be responsible for delivering or shipping the product to INVOLT for assessment. If the warranty claim is approved, INVOLT will cover reasonable return delivery of the repaired or replacement product unless another arrangement has been agreed.
Removal, reinstallation, travel and downtime costs are not included unless INVOLT agrees otherwise in writing.
9. Repaired and replacement products
A replacement may be new or an equivalent service replacement with comparable specifications. Repairs and replacements remain covered for the balance of the original warranty period.
10. Limitation of liability
INVOLT is not responsible for indirect loss, business interruption, loss of use or lost profits arising from a product being unavailable while it is assessed or repaired. Nothing in this policy removes any right or responsibility that cannot be excluded.
