Stop if the battery is damaged, swollen, leaking, unusually hot or smoking.Move people away, avoid touching or charging it, and contact emergency services if there is immediate danger.
Before installation
- Read the battery, charger and equipment instructions completely.
- Confirm voltage, dimensions, terminal orientation and charger compatibility.
- Switch off, isolate and secure the equipment against accidental movement.
- Remove metal jewellery, use appropriate insulated tools and wear suitable protective equipment.
- Use correct lifting equipment and never lift a heavy battery alone.
During installation
- Prevent tools or cables from bridging the terminals. A battery can deliver dangerous fault current.
- Observe polarity and the specified connection sequence; never guess.
- Secure the battery and cables so they cannot move, chafe, crush or contact hot parts.
- Tighten connections to the specified torque and refit all terminal protection.
Charging and storage
- Use only an approved charger in a dry, ventilated area away from combustible materials.
- Do not charge a frozen, wet, damaged or unusually hot battery.
- For extended storage, follow the model-specific state-of-charge and inspection instructions.
- Do not open, crush, puncture, short, burn or dispose of a lithium battery with household waste.
